BeLIEve it or not it was the game of soccer that allowed the city to give no fucks over the sonics packing up and leaving! the sounders were re branded and had a butt load of season tickets sold before they ever played a game! I believe the sonics at the time of their departure were scraping to sell 10,000 seats per game! So the sounders ticket sales moving into to Seahawks stadium more than covered the lost revenue the sonics weren't providing anyways! So the city was on some don't let the door hit you in thee ass shit!

Although I'm an OKC resident and Thunder fan, this is a travesty and a lesson in professional sports that should never be repeated again. OKC has proven itself as an NBA city with the support over the last two decades, but it should not have gained a franchise in this shady way at the expense of an historic and treasured franchise in a supportive city like Seattle.
